SUPERVISION AND CONSULTation
I provide mentorship to counsellors who are seeking a deeply experienced supervisor to ground their practice and elevate their clinical skills. I bring over 15 years of extensive expertise in trauma-informed care, family mediation, and systemic therapy. I have provided graduate-level BSW students with direct supervision. In recent years, I have moved to supervising fellow Canadian Certified Counsellors. I provide a non-judgmental, holistic space tailored entirely to your unique professional growth. Whether you are navigating complex clinical cases, fulfilling certification hours, or establishing your practice’s ethical foundation, my compassionate and grounded approach ensures you feel fully supported at every stage of your career.
My goal as a mentor is to provide guidance, tools, and skills needed to build confidence and complete authenticity in therapeutic practice. My role will be led through an intersectional lens, aiming to foster a reflective practice, jointly exploring professional identities, and building resilience while safeguarding societal welfare. Consultation will be conducted in a collaborative, growth-oriented process that integrates support, encouragement, and accountability.
Supervision and consultation will be guided through the Integrative Relational Feminist (IRF) Model of Supervision. My supervisory approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidence-informed frameworks, including Feminist, Adlerian, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Motivational Interviewing, with a non-pathologizing approach, to meet each supervisee exactly where they are. This practice is deeply relational, emphasizing the supervisory relationship itself as the primary vehicle for learning, reflection, and professional growth. Grounded in a feminist lens, I intentionally attend to power dynamics, culture, social context, collaboration, and justice while actively fostering the supervisee's unique voice and empowerment.
In collaboration, a learning plan developed. The learning plan will outline your goals and establish the objectives of supervision. Such goals and objectives include the criteria of understanding of the foundations of theory, the human experience, and mental health, the use of communication and relationship building, and the use of counselling approaches. Using the learning plan, the evaluation of your growth and development will be done through ongoing and pre-designated “check-ins” that foster authenticity, empathy, reassurance, patience, and respect. You will receive feedback on your abilities to demonstrate self-awareness, attention to diversity, capacity for autonomy in your functioning, and awareness of your ethical obligations, which will be long term professional attributes to upheld in your practice.
Supervision is a distinct professional practice employing a collaborative relationship that has both facilitative and evaluative components, that extends over time, which has the goals of enhancing the professional competence and science-informed practice of the supervisee, monitoring the quality of services provided, protecting the public, and providing a gatekeeping function for entry into the profession.
